Catching Up
My take on Zeno's Paradox
Zeno’s Paradox
Zeno was a Greek philosopher, one of his famous paradoxes, "Achilles and the Tortoise," talks about a race between the swift Greek hero Achilles and a slow-moving tortoise. Surprisingly, Zeno argues that Achilles can never overtake the tortoise because he must first reach the point where the tortoise started, but by then, the tortoise has moved a bit ahead, and this pattern repeats infinitely. While Zeno's paradox offers food for thought, it unfortunately isn’t “correct”.
Opening a Can of Worms
I started reading pretty heavily at the start of this year, I found myself playing a huge game of catch-up ever since I entered this new book filled world. I step back every time I finish a book and think about what author I want to dive into next, or what other novel seems interesting.
Fiction or Non Fiction? New author or keep reading works from this author? No matter what question you may ask, there are at least three amazing authors that can probably come to mind. It’s easy to get lost in this maze but it’s a maze that has no end and every turn is filled with new discoveries no matter where you go. Like the tortoise, books have had quite a significant head start on me and I have a LOT to catch up on in terms of classic literature and becoming familiar with the works of those who I find fascinating.
The Game
What's great is how this concept works for anything. You want get into editing videos? Cool, play catch-up. You want to learn more about directors and movies? Great, play catch-up. You want to learn a new sport or hobby? Amazing, play catch-up.
If you understand what people are saying about said topic and aren’t confused, are you caught up?
If you understand what they’re saying and can now add to it/ expand on that, are you caught up?
If you can educate someone all about this topic and they understand, are you caught up? That’s all up to you to decide, you can play this game forever and I’m all for it!
Each day, you have the option to play in this game; it's entirely your choice whether you wish to participate or not.
Will we ever catch up? Who knows
See you soon!

post: You can say that playing catch-up is learning, but as someone who likes gamifying everything, I’ll stick with playing catch-up, thank you very much.
